For some, it could mean the fight of their life

No one ever expects them or their loved ones to end up in hospital, especially at Christmas, desperately needing critical care that could save their life. Unfortunately each year our Gold Coast emergency departments see over 31,000 babies, children and adults, presenting to the hospital for a range of illnesses, trauma and diseases.

Tillie's mum, Ashleigh, never expected this desperate need for help would happen to her and her unborn baby, or that she would unknowingly receive vital help from the Foundation when Tillie arrived unexpectedly 24 weeks premature.

A critical life hung in the balance. Being born far too early baby Tillie had a fight on her hands, entering the world at 24 weeks premature. Countless support from the medical teams, as well as specialised equipment donated by the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation would help Tillie on her health journey. Tameka's Story

A newborn and postnatal depression. Tameka and her partner needed support.

When Tameka and her partner dreamed of starting a family, they never imagined their world would feel like it was crashing down around them. But as Tameka struggled with severe postnatal depression and anxiety, it became their reality—a reality shared by many families, with 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers experiencing postnatal depression.
